Hello, this is Hanns-Oskar Porr, creator of SeinQuest and author of Be True, Be Happy: Simple Secrets for a Happy and Meaningful Life and The Steps of Essence: How to Live Life Well and Authentically.

SeinQuest and my books are all about self-realization: to overcome personal limits, find yourself, and then be true to you in all aspects of your life. This has always been my own personal motto and approach to life – in fact both SeinQuest and my writings not only implement this principle but grew out of this.

Over the years, I have worked for the Walt Disney Animation Studioes where I developed special effects software for some of their movies (yes, you may know some), and then for some other global companies. Today, I still run a software business, but that is a different story.

At one point, my wife and I took a year off, sold off most of our belongings, left the cat with a friend, and drove off into the sunset on a trip of a lifetime. We drove from Florida to Mexico, then up to Alaska until we ran out of road, and back, logging more than 24,000 miles. We flew to Peru, backpacked the Andes and Amazon, then on to Europe. Adventure was plenty, and luxury sparse. Along the way, I collapsed from severe altitude sickness while camping on a 17,000ft volcano, and picked up an E-Coli virus that almost killed me.

I leaned a lot on this trip, and from others that followed, including parenthood: About personal growth -- that only if you risk yourself, you can grow. About how little you really need to live and still be happy. About personal perseverance in times of challenge. About being true to yourself. And most of all, about finding yourself.

Over the years, I refined what I had learned through my experiences, by incorporating the thoughts of the greatest thinkers (from Plato to Kant to Heidegger to Derrida), as well as techniques from modern psychology, and crystallized all this into “The Steps of Essence” and the various tools that you find on this site, including the blogs and forum.

It is my hope that you will find this helpful in your own quest to live life well and authentically. I wish you all the best in this adventure called life!
