Happiness Secret: Do not take the little things in life for granted

Sometimes we chase after certain things and think that they will make us happy. In my book "Be True, Be Happy: Simple Secrets for a Happy and Meaningful life", I present various simple secrets for happiness, and one such secret is that we already have a lot of "little things" in our lives that can make us happy -- if only we choose to see them. Unfortunately, we all too often forget this and take them instead for granted. But isn't it a good day if you have health, food and shelter? Often it's exactly those "little things" that turn out to be really important, and we don’t even notice them until they are gone.

There sure are many such "little things" in my life and I want to share one special one with you that makes me very happy: when I take a walk with my five year old son and he holds my hand. Right there, feeling that little hand in my mine, is my happiness. Because I know, one day he’ll be too old and think it’s not cool any longer to hold Dad’s hand. So I enjoy it, greatly, and am grateful for each time it happens.

Think about, what "little things" do you take granted in your life? Your Health, the smile of a loved one? And then, really count your blessings. Why not try to be grateful for them? Happiness is right there.

Please share what you find -—what "little things" are you grateful for?

Be True! Be Happy!
And smile!
